Do you need a Web Site?
To be honest, you do. The point has long since passed where businesses can seem professional and credible without a web site. Now, for the majority of the population, the web is the first place they look for information on your company. And if you're not there, or don't look professional, then your competitors will get the business.
What type of Web Site?
That really depends on what sort of business you have. For some businesses a straightforward e-brochure type of site will be enough. If you have all the business you want, and simply want a nice professional looking site to point your customers to, then this is the best option. But if you are serious about growing your site to deliver a new stream of sales and customers then you need more. It may be an
e-commerce site, it may be a content-rich site with good SEO, or a combination of both.
How much does a Web Site Cost?
Cost is not the issue. Value for money is. Once you have decided which type of site you need you have to get it done professionally. The web is littered with home-made sites that are of no benefit to their owners. Quite honestly, those businesses would be better off with no site at all! You wouldn't let your 7 year old daughter design and print your company stationery, but it's amazing how many businesses let a friend or relation build a website. And good site design really isn't expensive, especially when you see what it brings back in.
Website 'Add-Ons'
There are lots of 'extras' a web site can have. Blogs (online logs), E-Commerce, Newsletters, Enquiry Forms, Booking Forms, Subscriptions and on and on. They all work, but not for all businesses. You need to know what will work and what won't for your particular business. You don't need to have all the bells & whistles. Just the ones that work for you.
